Not every meeting starts life on a calendar. Sometimes a client sends you a link over WhatsApp, email or Slack and the conversation happens anyway. With the diio Chrome plugin you can record that video call even if you didn't create it, it isn't scheduled, and it doesn't already exist in diio.
That's the key difference from the bot: the bot can only join meetings that are on your calendar. The plugin records from your browser, so it doesn't depend on that.
It works in Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. It does not work in Zoom.
What you need before you start
The diio Chrome plugin installed and signed in. If you don't have it yet, see how to install it.
To join the meeting from the same Chrome where the plugin is installed.
Your company's Recording mode to allow recording with the plugin. It does by default; it's only blocked if your Admin chose "Native recording (diio)".
You don't need to configure anything else before the meeting starts.
How to record the meeting
1. Join the video call. It can be any Google Meet or Microsoft Teams meeting: you don't need to have created it, to have it on your calendar, or to have it registered in diio.
2. Look for the plugin notice. When you join, diio detects that you're in a video call it can record and tells you so.
3. Open the diio plugin. Click the diio icon in the Chrome extensions bar.
4. Click "Record". From that moment diio starts capturing the conversation.
5. Run the meeting as usual. The video call carries on in Google Meet or Teams while diio records in the background.
Why the recording ends up pending information
When a meeting was scheduled, diio already knows who was invited and can match each voice to a person. In an unscheduled meeting it has no such reference: it doesn't know who took part or which voice belongs to whom.
That's why, once the call ends, the recording waits for you to fill in that information before it can be analyzed.
How to fill in the participant details
1. Open the diio plugin and go to Settings.
2. Find the "Pending recordings" section. It lists the recorded meetings that still need information before they can be analyzed.
3. Locate the meeting you just recorded and click "Complete information".
4. Identify each participant. For every voice in the recording you need to give the person's name and email address.
For example:
Voice 1 → Catalina Ceresuela → [email protected]
Voice 2 → Juan Pérez → [email protected]
What happens next
Once the information is complete, there's nothing else for you to do. diio takes the recording, correctly identifies who said what, and processes the conversation like any other meeting registered on the platform.
