The diio Chrome extension is an alternative capture mode for Google Meet and Microsoft Teams meetings. Instead of the bot entering as a participant, it is the extension in your browser that records the meeting. This mode is activated by the company Administrator: if your company uses it, the bot stops entering automatically and recording becomes manual through the extension.
Bot vs. Chrome extension
Bot. Enters as a participant in the video call and records from the cloud. The host must admit it. Works for Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams.
Chrome extension. Records from your browser, without any additional participant entering. Only works for Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. The meeting organizer sees no bot.
The extension is not a fallback when the bot fails: it is a company decision about how it wants to capture its meetings. If your company activated the extension, that is the mode you should use.
How to record a meeting with the extension
Open the meeting in Google Meet or Microsoft Teams from the same Chrome where you have the extension installed.
Click the diio icon in the browser extensions bar.
In the popup, you will see the name of the ongoing meeting. Click the blue "● Record Meeting" button.
Recording begins. Conduct your meeting normally.
When it ends, close the meeting tab. The extension uploads the recording in the background and diio analyzes it.
What happens if the meeting doesn't appear in the popup
The extension only detects meetings that are scheduled in your calendar. If the meeting doesn't appear in the popup, verify that it was created in the calendar with the correct participants. Ad hoc meetings without a calendar event are not detected by the extension.
What happens if the upload fails
If the recording could not be uploaded (due to network issues or others), it stays in the "Pending recordings" section inside the extension configuration. From there you can retry the upload or delete the file to free up local space.
