The diio Chrome plugin lets you record meetings without the bot joining the video call, and analyze your WhatsApp Web and LinkedIn conversations straight from the browser. You install it once and it stays active for all of your uses.
The bot and the plugin coexist. Which one you can use depends on the Recording mode your account Admin has set under diio settings › Capture and recording. With the recommended option, "Individual preference", each person decides under My preferences › Meetings and chats.
What the plugin is for
The diio Chrome plugin has three functions:
Record Google Meet or Microsoft Teams video calls when you don't want the diio bot present, or when the meeting isn't on your calendar (for example, a link a client sent you over WhatsApp or email). It's the only way to record a meeting diio doesn't know about in advance.
Analyze WhatsApp Web conversations. When you open or refresh WhatsApp Web in Chrome, the plugin captures the visible threads and sends them to diio for analysis. If you'd rather not use the plugin for this, you can also link your WhatsApp with a QR code from My preferences › Integrations.
Analyze LinkedIn messages. Same as with WhatsApp: when you open LinkedIn in Chrome, the plugin captures the active conversations.
How to install it
Download the plugin straight from the Chrome Web Store here.
Click the extensions icon (puzzle piece) in the Chrome bar.
Find diio in the list and click the pin to keep it visible. The diio icon now appears in the bar.
Click the diio icon.
Sign in with the same SSO you use in the app (Google or Microsoft).
Click "Configure plugin" (gear icon).
Turn on the toggles you need.
The Automatic activation toggles
In the plugin settings you'll find three switches, all off by default:
Turn diio on automatically in every WhatsApp chat. diio will be able to read and analyze any chat you open, without you activating each conversation separately.
Turn diio on automatically in every LinkedIn chat. Same as the previous one, for LinkedIn.
Get reminders for Google Meet and Teams meetings. diio notifies you about your upcoming scheduled meetings.
These same settings are also in the diio app, under My preferences › Meetings and chats. That's also where you choose your individual recording preference: "diio bot" or "Prioritize recording with the plugin". This preference only takes effect if the Admin left the account in "Individual preference" mode; in the other modes the company setting wins.
You don't need to choose "Prioritize recording with the plugin" in order to record with the plugin: you can start a recording from the popup at any time. What it does is stop the bot from also joining your Google Meet and Microsoft Teams meetings.
What you see in the plugin popup
When you click the diio icon in the bar, the popup shows one of two states:
No meeting in progress: a shortcut to configure the plugin and a reminder of the three available functions.
Meeting in progress (not recording): the meeting name, its duration, the number of participants and a large blue "Record Meeting" button. Click that button to start recording.
What happens when the meeting ends
When you close the meeting tab, the plugin uploads the recording automatically in the background. Within a few minutes it appears as a Meeting under "All conversations" in diio.
In two cases the recording first lands in Pending recordings, the section further down in the plugin settings:
If the upload fails (because of the connection or the file size). From there you can retry the upload or delete it to free up space.
If the meeting wasn't on your calendar. diio doesn't know who took part, so it waits for you to fill in the name and email for each voice before analyzing it.
The table shows each recording with its size, date, URL and status, along with the available actions.
