diio can analyze your WhatsApp conversations the same way it analyzes meetings and calls: it extracts commitments, assesses the mood of the conversation and generates the corresponding follow-up.
There are two ways to connect WhatsApp:
With a QR code (from the diio app): you link your WhatsApp once under My preferences › Integrations › WhatsApp and decide, number by number, which conversations get analyzed. See the step-by-step guide in How to connect your WhatsApp to diio (QR).
With the Chrome plugin: diio captures the chats you open in WhatsApp Web. That's what this article covers.
Step 1: set up the plugin
Install the diio Chrome plugin if you don't have it yet.
Pin the plugin to the Chrome bar and sign in with your SSO (Google or Microsoft), the same one you use in diio.
Open WhatsApp Web (web.whatsapp.com) in a Chrome tab.
Link your phone if you haven't already: in the mobile app, go to Settings → Linked devices → Link a device and scan the QR code.
Step 2: turn diio on in the chat you want to analyze
Open the conversation you want to analyze in WhatsApp Web. In the top bar of the chat, on the far right, there's a control with the diio logo and a switch. Turn it on and diio starts analyzing that conversation from that moment.
It's a switch, not a send button: it stays on for that conversation until you turn it off. You can have some chats on and others off, and change them whenever you want.
Step 3 (optional): have it turn on by itself
If you'd rather not flip the switch chat by chat, diio can do it for you in every conversation you open. You can turn this on in two ways:
In diio: under My preferences › Meetings and chats › Chats, turn on "WhatsApp Web" (Automatically analyze the chats I open).
In the plugin: click the diio icon in the Chrome bar, go to Configure plugin (gear icon) and, under Automatic activation, turn on the "Turn diio on automatically in every WhatsApp chat" toggle.
This mode doesn't behave the same as the manual switch: with automatic activation, diio analyzes the full history of every chat you open, not just the new messages.
That's why we only recommend it if you have a business WhatsApp, separate from your personal one. Simply opening a conversation is enough for it to be analyzed in full, whether it's work-related or personal. If you use a single number for everything, leave automatic activation off and turn diio on chat by chat.
When diio captures new messages
With the plugin, capture happens when you open or refresh WhatsApp Web in Chrome, not in real time. You can keep chatting from your phone perfectly normally: if you talk during the day and open WhatsApp Web at night, diio captures the new messages from your enabled chats at that point.
Where to see the result
diio groups messages by contact and processes them as a single conversation in the Message channel. The analysis arrives within a few minutes and appears in "All conversations" filtering by Channel → Messages; you can narrow it down to WhatsApp with the Social Network → WhatsApp filter.
Limitations to keep in mind
With the plugin, it only works in Chrome. WhatsApp Web open in another browser isn't captured by the plugin.
With the plugin, it only captures threads you open. Archived conversations or groups you don't view aren't captured until you open them.
These limitations apply to the plugin. For QR linking, see its own article.
